DIABETES MELLITUS

 WHAT IS DIABETES MELLITUS:-

Diabetes Mellitus is a chronic metabolic disorder that affects the body's ability to produce or use insulin effectively. Insulin is a hormone that regulates blood sugar levels and helps to move glucose from the bloodstream into the cells of the body to be used as energy. In diabetes, there is a problem with either the production of insulin or the body's ability to use insulin effectively.

TYPE 1 DIABETES:-

In Type 1 diabetes, the body's immune system attacks and destroys the cells in the pancreas that produce insulin, leading to a complete deficiency of insulin. Type 1 diabetes typically develops in childhood or adolescence.

TYPE 2 DIABETES:-
Type 2 diabetes is the more common type and is characterized by the body's inability to use insulin effectively, known as insulin resistance, or a relative deficiency in insulin production. Type 2 diabetes can develop at any age, but it is more common in adults and is often associated with lifestyle factors such as obesity, poor diet, and lack of exercise.
